Art Exhibit: Heritage, Craft & Evolution: Surfboard Design 1885-1959
October 22 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
An event every day that begins at 10:00 am, repeating until October 30, 2021
This exhibit traces the history of surfing and the evolution of surfboards illustrated by the boards themselves, paintings, and photographs. The book and the exhibit, are the result of a unique collaboration between three important figures in the California surfing community: Renny Yater, one of the first commercial surfboard shapers of the 1950s; John Comer, plein-air painter; and painter and surfboard shaper, Kevin Ancell. Together, the trio trace the history of surfing, surfboard development, and the California surfing scene, with historic boards that they have painted and embellished to illustrate the stories.
